The impact of COVID-19 on SDG implementation in the UNECE region: What role for parliaments?
Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff had a unique space to discuss common challenges as well as strategies that they could implement to promote a green recovery and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by 2030. The focus was also on the importance for parliaments to be engaged in the Voluntary National Reviews process to monitor government actions, strengthen national ownership of and build more political support for the SDGs.

Segment 3: Experiences from the region with Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs)
Parliamentary involvement in the VNRs is key to monitoring government actions at the national level, strengthening national ownership of and building more political support for the SDGs. The aim of this segment is to present the findings of the IPU survey report on Parliamentary involvement in the 2020 VNRs and promote a discussion on the importance for parliaments to be engaged in this process. Parliamentarians will have the opportunity to exchange their views and share their experiences on this matter.
