The 2019 session of the Regional Forum was composed of the following segments:

  • The High-level Dialogue, where high-level representatives from past and 2019 VNR countries from the region engaged in a moderated dialogue and an interactive discussion on Voluntary national reviews as drivers of Sustainable Development Goal implementation. It was followed by a plenary debate.
  • Peer Learning Round tables, which facilitated practical exchange of experiences and best practices in SDG implementation between governments and other stakeholders. Two sets of five parallel round tables took place on the set of SDGs under in-depth review at the 2019 HLPF (SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, 16).
  • Two focus events on cutting-edge topics affecting overall SDG implementation, namely “Technology, Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence – Curse or Blessing for Sustainable Development?” and “How to Measure Progress? Data and Statistics for SDGs”. Panellists provided introductory inputs followed by an interactive discussion with the floor.
  • A final plenary, focusing on closing the dots. It allowed to hear key messages from the round tables and the focus events and engage in an interactive panel discussion that stressed interlinkages between the reviewed SDGs and pathways for integrated policy-making.

Alongside the formal agenda, over 15 side events and pre-meetings offered further spaces for interactive exchange and online discussions.
