Side Event: Multi-level acceleration for the SDGs in the UNECE Region
The objective of this side-event is to reflect on insights from practice and research on the global, national and local implementation of the SDGs, among a broad range of actors. Based on these insights and through a discussion with the participants, we aim to find entry points for acceleration for the decade of action. Based on the discussion, a summary of key findings will be written, which may serve as further input for the HLPF in July 2023 and the SDG Summit in September 2023.
Background
At the halfway point of the SDGs, it is clear that efforts need to be stepped up to realize the ambition of the 2030 Agenda. Global, regional, national and local actors all must work together for this purpose. This event will focus on the potential for multi-level acceleration in the UNECE Region. We discuss the potential for acceleration from multiple levels of governance and from a diverse range of actors, including municipalities, partnerships, Member States, the Regional Commissions and other International Organizations. Our speakers contribute both from their practical experience and on the basis of extensive on-going research into the effects and effectiveness of the SDGs in advancing sustainable development.
