About the event
Rural women play critical roles in agrifood systems, natural resource management and building climate resilience. Addressing rural women’s needs cuts across the 2030 Agenda. Despite progress towards achieving gender equality in the region, policies and programmes lack measures tailored to support rural women's advancement. The COVID-19 pandemic has threatened to delay further the advances towards reaching SDGs. The event has provided an opportunity to exchange promising practices in addressing gender inequalities from the initiatives in the region, such as ensuring equitable access to land, rural advisory and extension services, developing gender-sensitive value chains, and improving rural women’s income generation skills.
